Water technologies pioneer IDE Technologies Ltd chooses CTSpace’s Engineering Document Management Collaboration solution
Cloud-based FusionLive solution to be used on 3 major desalination projects in Israel, China and Cyprus
Brentford, UK – 10th June, 2011 – CTSpace, global provider of document management and collaboration applications for the construction and engineering industries, has been selected by water technologies pioneer IDE Technologies to provide a document management solution for three major desalination projects:
• Sorek, the largest SWRO desalination project worldwide
Due for completion in 2013 - the plant is designed to produce up to 150 million m3/year (108MGD) drinking water.
• Tianjin power station, China’s largest desalination plant project
Due for completion in 2012 - for this project, IDE came up with an eco-friendly plan whereby the deployment of an advanced seawater desalination process is to be powered by the electric plant’s waste heat, which, unless captured and re-used, would otherwise be discharged into the atmosphere. In addition, employing an innovative new technology, the system recycles the post-desalination waste brine and uses it to create pure salt.
• Vasilikos power station project, Cyprus
Due for completion in 2012 - the Vasilikos plant produces high-quality potable and agricultural water from seawater. Production costs will be minimized and the use of IDE’s advanced technological design will enable the plant to achieve low levels of energy consumption.
For these three projects, IDE Technologies is using CTSpace’s cloud-based engineering collaboration solution FusionLive. The solution puts the project team in a position to maintain consistency of information through all phases of the project, from design through to completion. The software keeps a complete audit trail of project communications, and provides a robust, secure central repository for all documentation, accessible by all project participants.
Jacky Ben-Yaish, IDE Technologies Engineering Manager, explains: “FusionLive is used for controlling and reviewing out-sourced designers’ plans, design drawings and vendor documents. The main reason we selected FusionLive is the advanced approval process functionality it provides in addition to all the usual document collaboration features. Our business is composed of numerous projects, which each require a large number of sub-suppliers: reviewing and processing the inputs from our suppliers efficiently is a critical aspect of our activity. When we saw our activity booming with increasingly large projects, we realised that the ability for our engineers to collect all suppliers’ documents in one single place for review, validation and processing, was crucial: both for our operational capacity as well as financially.”
